Every amateur athlete who wasn’t quite good enough to make it to the next level wondered at some point how they would fare at a combine. Well, he may be 31, but Jesse finally got to see for himself.

… with a bunch of aspiring NHLers half his age at the OHL combine.

Jesse made his way down the pond from TSN over to Oshawa’s Tribute Communities Centre, where his explosiveness was put to the test in a jumping drill, before heading over to the daunting pull-up bar. Would he cruise through and look like Hercules, or struggle to do one like Sam Bennett before he entered The Show? Take a look for yourself… and then watch how the squid struggled to keep up with drills on the ice.

Did we fool you there with that cold open?

Honestly, 15 isn’t half bad, and before you say “those aren’t real pull-ups”, just know that Jesse has very long arms and his knees were basically at the floor. As impressive as he was though… Can we talk about Coach Chippy for a second? Guy was flying out there!

Although he was not in attendance at the combine, 6’5, 230 lbs Ethan Belchetz was taken first overall by the Windsor Spitfires and with size like that, the combine probably wasn’t necessary for him if we’re being real.
